Owen Coyle has called for Wanderers to use the performance against Fulham as a platform when they head to Eastlands on Tuesday evening.

The Gaffer was encouraged with his side's showing at the weekend and he wants more of the same from his players when they tackle sixth placed Manchester City.

And Coyle believes that if Bolton become a bit more ruthless in front of goal then they have every chance of inflicting a first home League defeat of the season on Roberto Mancini's team.

"It's another big game in the Premier League, as they all are," said the Manager. "We need to go there and replicate our second half performance from Saturday. If we keep that level then it will result in points and Bolton Wanderers moving up the league.

"We had 23 goal attempts against Fulham, with 13 of them being on target, so we are certainly doing something right. What we need to do is add that cutting edge.

"I thought that we passed the ball particularly well in the second half - as well as we have done in my time here.

"We kept another clean sheet, which is vitally important, and if we can take those on our travels as well as at home then it will serve us well. If we can do that tomorrow then it is a platform to win the game of football.

"We need to go there with the belief that we can win the game because I certainly do. Manchester City are vulnerable, as all football clubs are - teams can lose matches just as easily as they can win them. They have come off a defeat on Saturday, although we accept that it was away from home.

"We know that Manchester City have quality players who are top world-class talents. But these are the type of games that we want to play in and we have that opportunity tomorrow night."

With Gary Cahill absent, Coyle also explained that Gavin McCann will be out for the foreseeable future after undergoing surgery on an ankle injury.

However, the Manager has been boosted with the return to fitness of Andy O'Brien and Gretar Steinsson and he expects both to be available for selection on Tuesday evening.

O'Brien limped off halfway through the second half against Fulham while Steinsson was ruled out shortly before kick-off through illness.

Coyle explained: "Gavin will be out for a couple of months with his ankle. He hurt it in the Arsenal match when he came on as a substitute. We tried a steroid injection to help but it didn't alleviate any of the pain.

"Gretar was unwell overnight on Friday but he wanted to play against Fulham. He came in, tried the warm-up but he had no energy. He has now got that strength back and did some light training today.

"Andy took a knock on his calf on Saturday but he managed to train today also. He has been a terrific professional who knows how to look after his body, it was a straight bang and because it is just bruising and not ligament or muscle damage then he should be able play through it."

The Manager also revealed that he is set to hand Jack WIlshere his Bolton Wanderers debut.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been an unused substitute in the two matches since he joined on loan until the end of the season.

Coyle added: "I think it is fair to say that we will see Jack Wilshere in a Bolton Wanderers shirt on Tuesday night. I've been frustrated for him because the intension was to play him against Liverpool and get him up to speed because he hasn't had a lot of game time this season with Arsenal.

"And then on Saturday again, we had looked to put Weiss and Wilshere on but then Andy O'Brien got injured at the back. We had already used Johan Elmander so it meant only one of the two young lads could come on, and being ultra positive, we threw Vladimir on because he is an attacking wide player.

"He was terrific and I wish I had both available tomorrow but with Vladimir coming on loan from Manchester City then he can't play against his parent club."
